Young Sheldon makes major change to Big Bang Theory storyline
Young Sheldon spoilers follow.
Young Sheldon has made a major change to some Big Bang Theory lore in its final season.
Fans of The Big Bang Theory will know that Sheldon Cooper always knocks on a door three times before entering a room.
In season 10 of the sitcom, Sheldon offered an explanation for why he does that, recounting a traumatic moment from his childhood.

In the episode titled ‘The Hot Tub Contamination,’ Sheldon reveals to Penny that he caught his father in bed with another woman when he was 13.
Sheldon explains that the first two knocks are customary and the third is to give the person time to “get their pants on”.
But in the latest episode of the prequel series, it was revealed that things weren’t quite how they seemed.
Instead of Sheldon catching his father George in bed with another woman, he actually caught his parents engaging in some role play, with his mother wearing a blonde wig.
But while this part of Sheldon and his dad’s story has been rewritten, Young Sheldon’s executive producer Steve Holland has previously confirmed that George will die in the final season.
Speaking to TVLine earlier this month, Holland said: “I don’t want to say what you will or won’t see, but things will get addressed.
“We are not beholden to every joke that was ever made on The Big Bang Theory, but we do feel beholden to the larger canon and the larger events that shape Sheldon’s life. We want to honour those.”
Holland insisted that the spin-off needs to maintain this continuity, despite some fans arguing that George does not need to meet an untimely end.
“That is a thing that happens in Sheldon’s life. This is the same character [from Big Bang],” he said.
“We are living in the same universe as Big Bang and that sort of world-building is important. Big things that [adult Sheldon said] happened in his life without a doubt happened.”
Young Sheldon airs on CBS in the US and E4 in the UK.
