Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Release Date Confirmed At CBS
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage gets a premiere date at CBS. First announced in January by the team of Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre and Young Sheldon co-creators Steve Holland and Steven Molaro, the multi-cam comedy is all set to focus on the characters of Georgie Cooper and Mandy McAllister, as portrayed by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, who became a popular pairing during their time on the prequel sitcom.
CBS has revealed the details of its Fall TV schedule, with Deadline confirming that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will premiere on Thursday, October 17, at 8 PM EST. It will be joined on the CBS schedule by Ghosts season 4 and the Kathy Bates reboot of Matlock at 8:30 PM ET and 9 PM ET, respectively, while Elsbeth season 2 closes out the night at 10 PM ET.
Georgie & Mandy Is Bringing Back Other Young Sheldon Characters
It’s Going Back To Big Bang Theory’s Multi-Cam Roots
With the release date now confirmed, it won’t be long before more is unveiled in terms of how this latest entry in the Big Bang Theory franchise intends to blend the two shows that preceded it.
The upcoming CBS show is a multi-cam comedy, unlike Young Sheldon which was single-cam and could sometimes go in a more serious direction. The focus will be on the titular couple raising their young family in Texas and navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage. Although not much has been unveiled about the series beyond that, the producing team has offered a preview of what to expect.
Holland, who had a pivotal role in creating Young Sheldon, explained one key difference that the upcoming spinoff has and mentioned that viewers don’t fully know what happened to Georgie and Mandy as opposed to the Young Sheldon ending. The latter character is not directly mentioned in The Big Bang Theory, though it is said that Georgie is twice divorced and has had bad luck in relationships. This allows the new series some room to maneuver in terms of storytelling.
