America’s Got Talent 2025: Sacred Riana’s Haunting Magic Show Stuns Millions, Wins Golden Buzzer
‘Americas Got Talent’ Simon Cowell On Hunt For Boy Bands Talent
In March, the news arrived that Simon Cowell was in talks with Netflix to start a new show. The show focuses on talented people auditioning to form a new boy band similar to One Direction. This week, Simon’s been calling for people to audition. So, presumably, he signed off with the streaming giant. New updates reveal he works with Box To Box, who have done documentaries for Netflix in the past.
Simon Cowell On The Hunt For Talent
The talent hunter has a history of success with shows like American Idol, The X Factor UK, and America’s Got Talent. He also did well with similar shows across the pond. Of course, he’s well known as the man who got One Direction going before he fell out with them. Harry Styles went solo, and there seems to be bad blood between them nowadays.
The new show will differ from American Idol, in that the aim is for the winners to form a boy band. Simon Cowell decided that there was still a future for them. And clearly, he did very well off One Direction. It’s not cast in stone, but the new Netflix show seems to aim at identifying the best performers and then putting them together in a band.
Audition Calls Go Out In The UK
The first auditions will take place in the UK, although the original news noted that the hunt for talent could go global. TMZ reported ahead of the weekend, that “Simon announced his new project Tuesday, dropping recruitment billboards across London.” The outlet cited the adverts as saying:
Simon needs you! Future megastars wanted for new boyband. No timewasters.
Simon Cowell explained that he still believes nobody yet rivalded One Direction. He added, “The industry tends to focus on solo artists – so it usually takes someone from outside to put a group together. Nothing beats the fun of being in a group, touring the world, and performing for thousands.”
If you want to audition, they take place in the UK and kick off in Newcastle on July 4 and 5. Next, they go to Liverpool, Dublin and London. You can apply online via Syco Entertainment which was formed by Simon Cowell.
