Georgie & Mandy Spinoff EP Teases a ‘Different Missy’ in Young Sheldon Spinoff
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage executive producer promises fans they will get a “different Missy” in the upcoming Young Sheldon spinoff series.
Per TV Insider, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage executive producer Steve Holland recently discussed the shift audiences can expect to see having taken place for Raegan Revord’s Missy Cooper. “We’re going to see a slightly different Missy,” Holland noted. “She’s gone through the loss of her dad and she’s acting out. She’s [becoming] rebellious.” Holland also stated that Missy’s concerning behavior will become a problem for Montana Jordan’s Georgie Cooper as the series unfolds. “He’s trying to balance being a husband and a father and also being a caretaker to his sister, who’s having some struggles.”
It’s been clarified which episodes will feature appearances from other Cooper family members in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Development of the Young Sheldon spinoff was officially announced in January, though the project wasn’t confirmed until March. The series brings back Jordan’s Georgie and Emily Osment’s Mandy McAllister as they navigate “the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.” Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will also mark the return of Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones in their roles of Mandy’s parents, Jim and Audrey, who will have regular recurring roles on the series, as well as Annie Potts in a reprisal of her role as Connie Tucker from Young Sheldon.

The series is being produced by co-creators Holland, Steven Molaro, and industry legend Chuck Lorre. Lorre opened up about what the series has in store for its eponymous couple, explaining that things are going to get “very hectic” for the pair. “[Georgie is] 19, and he dropped out of high school. How smooth can it be?” Lorre said. “It’s a bumpy ride, but the bumps are comedy if handled correctly. There’s dramatic moments as well, because they will face inevitable obstacles to staying together.”
Will Iain Armitage Return as Sheldon Cooper in the New Series?
In late July, Iain Armitage, who portrays the young Sheldon Cooper of Young Sheldon, discussed his own potential return in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. While Armitage made it clear that his Young Sheldon costars “don’t even need me” for their own series, he did state that he is eagerly anticipating its release. “At the end of the day, Montana is such a good guy — I love him to death. As you got to see, polite as heck. He’s awesome,” Armitage said. “And then miss Emily Osment, so talented, gorgeous, amazing, incredible, smart, wonderful. I cannot wait to see what they do on their show.”
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is currently slated to premiere on Oct. 17, 2024, on CBS.
