Peter Andre opens up in his exclusive OK! column this week about his exciting new TV drama role in what he describes as a ‘cozy crime’ drama as he reveals its connection to his Greek Cypriot father.
He also talks about the summer ahead at the family’s villa in Cyprus as he opens up about making special family memories, and expresses his sorry for the huge earthquake in Russia and subsequent tsunami warnings as he admits it’s ‘such a scary time for the planet right now’….
Cozy crime

I’m very excited that the cozy crime drama I filmed Sunshine Murders is coming to Channel 5 and Paramount Plus next month. When I auditioned it was only for one episode. They asked me to do it in my normal accent, but I thought I’d also do it in a Greek accent – how my dad speaks, basically! – as I was playing George, a Greek pathologist in Athens.
I was nervous as I hadn’t heard anything for a while but when they got back to me, not only did they love the Greek accent, they then decided I’d become one of the key characters – now I’m in every episode! It was great working with Stephanie Beecham and Nick Moran, they’re great actors. It was a beautiful experience. Anyone watching that knows my dad will be like, wow, Peter sounds just like him!
Heart like a Lioness

What a win for the Lionesses – I’m so proud of them! My family moved to Australia in 1979 – and I’ll never forget getting beaten up by these kids on the first day of school, because I told them I followed football (or ‘soccer’ as they call it). They laughed and said it was a ‘girl’s sport’. I didn’t have a clue what they meant, because the female footy players there were always phenomenal. So, I’ve always known that female football players are fierce and amazing! Millie, Theo and Junior love to kick a ball about and these girls are just such an inspiration for future generations.
School’s out for summer

We’re flying out to our home in Cypress this week, and we’re so excited about that. Our villa out there is amazing. The kids have grown up going there and the absolutely love it. They will have so much fun swimming, going to the beach and all sorts – and hopefully mum and dad get a little rest!
Strictly fever

The excitement’s building for Strictly with new pros being revealed. I love this show so much – it stands out from shows like BGT and X Factor as every judge is a professional dancer. When they hit you with any criticism you could bet your bottom dollar they were spot on. That’s what made my own experience so phenomenal back in 2015. I’m still great friends with my old partner Janette Manrara and her husband Aljiaz to this day.
Tsunami warning

It’s such a scary time for the planet right now. After the earthquake in Russia last week there were warnings spreading across so many countries of a potential tsunami – including Australia. It’s terrifying and it does make you want to hug your loved ones that little bit tighter. People may say these natural disasters have been happening for millennia, but it feels like we’re hearing about them much more frequently now. My heart goes out to everyone that’s been affected.
