Shocked! George’s actor originally planned to ‘ruin every take’ during Young Sheldon funeral scene
The Plan for Chaos
When Lance Barber, who played George on Young Sheldon, arrived on set for the filming of his character’s funeral scene, he had an unexpected plan in mind. Known for his sense of humor, Barber had secretly brought a fart machine and a fake mustache, intending to disrupt the somber atmosphere of the scene. “I was ready to ruin so many takes,” Barber admitted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I wanted to add a bit of levity to the day.
Barber’s mischievous plan was all set to go. He imagined the reactions of his co-stars as they walked up to the casket, only to be interrupted by the sounds of the fart machine or the sight of him sporting a ridiculous mustache. However, things took a different turn as the day progressed.
A Change of Heart
As the cast began to shoot the emotional scene, Barber found himself deeply moved by the genuine reactions of his co-stars.

Watching them interact with his character’s ‘corpse’ touched him in a way he hadn’t anticipated. “I lay there with tears in my ears the entire time,” he confessed. “The gravity of the moment hit me hard, and I couldn’t go through with the pranks.”
Despite aborting his initial plan, Barber couldn’t resist adding a subtle touch of his humor to the scene. He disguised himself as an elderly woman named Georgina and positioned himself at the back of the congregation.
